The Community Cohesion Focus Group was lucky to have two MPs:  Tom Brake MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Andrew Pelling MP, Independent for Croydon Central.

Tom Brake MP was an excellent first speaker.  He delivered a most comprehensive talk about the responsibility of Parliamentarians and the Government in putting in place Community Cohesion Policies which will benefit communities.  He made a special reference to immigration and how it should be handled.  He said that, although the role of the police is crucial in dealing with some situations, it is even more important that community and faith leaders take an active role in bringing this about.

Conquering Snowdon

Many thanks for the support of the Global Peace Festival in our aid to raise funds for a new floor for a local community Centre. The Place Youth Club took 25 city kids on a sponsored walk up Mt. Snowdon. It was great to see these kids working together and helping each other to achieve their goals.

Community Cohesion Meeting in Waltham Forest Council Chamber

The Community Cohesion event on in Waltham Forest Council Chamber was hosted and chaired by Mayor Liaquat Ali of Waltham Forest. It was significant that there was co-operation between 3 neighbouring boroughs; Waltham Forest, Newham, and Hackney.
